Gravity Tune

Scientists, that crew,
which and who change their
minds based on evidence (a wild
concept), have heard the thrumming
waves of gravity rolling
through the universe. This
music isn't new. Our
hearing it is. Hey, maybe it

runs the tune to which God
boogies--or maybe not:
I'll await the evidence. Meantime,
it's somehow fine to know some
among us have heard paced pulses
that mass pulls through space.

It Does Go On

grandparents
carry parts of their
grandparents,
who carry their grandparents
and on

it goes, back
to plains of migration,
sweltering cities, old
farms and factories
in Africa, Asia, and other masses
between waters.

shapes of noses,
little phrases, species
of will,
imaginations,
entries

in almanacs of ailments,
tastes, gifts, preferences
for tart rhubarb.
sweet watermelon, blazing
peppers, a sense
for gardening that lives
in the hands, songs
in the throat.

IT does go on,
a continuum that
shrugs off egos, ignores
prejudice and hatred, and
collects little bits of us
to pack
in the cargo of ships
sailing into Time, across
the waters of Space.

Life Is Just a Breath

Life is just a breath,
A breath in empty space,
Until love takes the breath
Away and to a different place.

Time and Me

Time lies in bed beside me.
I put my arm around her. Time
takes walks with me. He is

an old man shuffling. Time
goes to the magic shows
in my mind, where illusions
of vast futures make

the audience feel immortal.
Time advises me. It is a
rationalist. It is a poet.
Time occurs in space,

which takes its time,
all time, with it.

Time is a goat
that will eat anything
and be sacrificed.

Miffle's Expanding Tardiness

Miffle asked Lubi what time it was.
Lubi said, "It's the eternal present
of an expanding universe." Krokson

interrupted the two. He said,
"Actually, it's about five minutes
after the eternal present of an

expanding universe." "Oh,
Hell," said Miffle, "in that
case, I'm late!" "For what?"

asked Lubi. "I don't know,"
replied Miffle. Krokson said,
"That's unfortunate--for now

your tardiness may expand not
unlike the universe.

The Schedule of Time and Space

Did space and time arrive at the same
time? Maybe time arrived on time
and space was running late. Or

Space could have been hanging around
waiting for the concept start to start.
And both time and space reported
for duty before the Big Bang, right?

It's all rather enormous and confusing.
I suppose it doesn't matter now, now
that matter is, and is space taking time
to rearrange itself constantly. Anyway,

it can't be any accident that Einstein,
whose schedule included lots of work
with time and space, developed
a comic affect.

"Lucid Mansion"

Grace creates a spaciousness,
a spacious nest like a meadow

between cedar groves, or a placid
piazza—a place, that is,

for consciousness to consider
its conscious nest,

its fortunate fest of being. In
the howling storm of time,

grace manages to accrue
some space, in dark

vacuity manages to
maintain a lucid mansion.

Wood on Water

Wood on Water

i now set this out
on waters of
Electronic Ocean

like a small
piece of wood--
white pine

i don't know
where it will go
except anywhere

it's particular
now--of particles
diffused

it could end up
being scanned by
an entity in

another galaxy,
a disappointed
decoder
