Yoga Poem #5

Yoga Poem #5

I'm not sure what war
they were fighting with
the warrior poses, but
I deduce the stakes
weren't very high.
Back off, enemy mine,
or I shall bend my knee
slightly further!
If only we could evolve
to such a state--in which
warriors are able only
to pose, all occupying
higher ground.

Yoga Poem #1: A Reply
And the funny thing is,
after a few years (no joke)
down-dog becomes yoga home.
It's your resting place,
weight out of the hands
and into the shoulders,
who are more equipped
to handle it, truth be told.
Upside down, you realize
that's one of the best places
to contemplate the world,
stretch it on out,
compose another poem.
